Find Hat Size

Before purchasing a hat for the first time, or if you have not purchased a new hat recently, you will need to know your hat size. Measure your head and refer to this chart. Sizes vary with hair styles, age, weight gain and loss. Although the chart below covers hat sizes from XS to XXL, this online store only carries men's hats in sizes S, M, L, and XL. Note that many ladies hats fall into the category "one size fits almost all." However, men need to measure their head with any new purchase of a hat.

Measuring Instructions:
Works best if someone helps you measure your head for you. Get a tape measure, NOT a metal one. The ones used for sewing work well. Fit tape measure snugly all the way around widest part of head approximately 1" above the eyebrow, just above the ears and at the point on the back of your head that will give you the largest measurement. Find the measurement to the nearest 1/8 of an inch. Use the Sizing Chart to convert this measurement in inches to a hat size of S, M, L, or XL.

Be sure to measure correctly! Always double check everything!
For reference:
1/8 of an inch is the same as 2/16 of an inch. Often, a measuring tape will break an inch into 16ths. In that case, two tiny lines on your measuring tape should be the same as 1/8 of an inch.
Likewise,
3/8 is the same as 6/16.
And,
5/8 is the same as 12/16.
And lastly,
7/8 is the same as 14/16.
